A man arrested over the murder of John George has appeared at an extradition hearing at a court in Portugal.
Jonny Smyth, 26, had been named in international arrest warrants circulated by Interpol having fled Spain following John George’s disappearance.
Mr George, from Belfast, went missing in Spain in December.
His body was found by Spanish police on 7 January in a remote lemon grove, having been stabbed and shot in the chest and face.
Mr Smyth, also originally from Belfast, was arrested in Portugal on Wednesday and is facing extradition to Spain.
Appearing before the Guimarães Court of Appeal, Mr Smyth did not oppose the extradition.
Following the hearing he was remanded back into custody.
