The Republican chairmen of the U.S. Senate and House Foreign Affairs Committees have threatened sanctions against the United Nations Human Rights Council if it moves forward with establishing a new investigative body targeting Israel.
In a letter sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Senator Jim Risch and Representative Brian Mast warned that any country, UN body or agency supporting such a mechanism would face “the same consequences” imposed on the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which was sanctioned by the Trump administration.
