A U.S. appeals court has refused to lift the block on widespread layoffs that the Trump administration attempted to implement across many government departments, as well as the restructuring of government agencies. The decision, made by the appeals court in San Francisco, prevents the Trump administration from proceeding with the dismissal of tens of thousands of federal workers and closing government offices and programs. A district judge in the California city ordered the administration to halt the layoff proceedings on the 22nd of the month, affecting approximately 20 federal agencies. The administration is expected to petition the Supreme Court to rule on the issue, as proceedings in the lower court could take months.
