Youths and young adults who arrived last night at the village of Malik in the Benjamin area claim that the confrontation with security forces erupted after an IDF battalion commander who arrived at the scene got out of his vehicle and began firing into the air while shouting and threatening them. “The sector’s battalion commander dismounted from his vehicle and began live firing over the heads of the young men, shouting at them to lie on the ground,” they claimed. “When one of the young men began filming the incident, the battalion commander was recorded stopping the documentation while threatening with his weapon. Afterward, the battalion commander ceased live fire and switched to firing riot dispersal grenades from a launcher. Throughout this time, no physical violence was carried out by the residents.”
