The rise and fall of the notorious Margaret ‘Big Mags’ Haney

Margaret Haney, more often known as “Big Mags”, grabbed the headlines in the late 1990s as a self-styled anti-paedophile campaigner.

It later transpired however that the Stirling grandmother was in fact the head of a notorious criminal gang that operated on the city’s Raploch estate.

A new BBC podcast tells the story of the Haney family and its infamous matriarch, a figure who still divides opinion decades on.
