A 81-year-old man has died following a crash between his electric bike and a van in Argyll and Bute.

The man died at the scene after the collision with a grey Ford Transit on the A815 at the access road to Hazelbank at about 11:40 on Sunday.

The driver of the van was not injured.

Police have launched an appeal for information to help establish the full circumstances of the crash.

The road was closed to allow for crash investigations to take place, but reopened at about 19:00.

Sgt Archie McGuire said Police Scotland’s thoughts were with the family and friends of the man who died.

He added: “I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash and witnessed what took place, or has any dashcam footage which could assist, to please get in touch with officers.”
