US Vice President JD Vance said in an interview with Fox News that European countries will need to bear the “lion’s share” of the burden of security guarantees for Ukraine, in case of a ceasefire agreement with Russia. “I don’t think we need to bear the burden here, I think we need to help if it’s necessary to stop the war and stop the killing,” he said. “But I think we need to expect, and the President certainly expects, that Europe will take the leading role here. No matter what form, Europeans will need to bear the lion’s share of the burden.”
