California Governor Gavin Newsom has flipped the script, using social media to come after US President Donald Trump and other political opponents. Newsom’s X feed has in recent weeks featured posts in full capitalisation, with AI-generated memes and trolling critics – similar to posts from Trump on Truth Social.
While the posts have won Newsom support from some Democrat voters, Republicans are calling the governor “desperate” and “attention-seeking”.
