A father and son have appeared in court charged over a collision involving two cars and a scrambler in Londonderry.
It happened in the Ringfort Road area last Friday.
Eamonn Barry Millar, 40, and his 19-year-old son Caomhan Millar, both of Rafferty Close, Derry, are charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury.
Eamonn Millar is further charged with making a threat to kill.
Both have been released on bail.
An investigating officer told Londonderry Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Dungannon, that he could connect both men to the charges.
It is alleged that Caomhan Millar was the driver of the car and it swerved into oncoming traffic, into the path of the scrambler.
Police told the court that a number of statements made in the aftermath of the collision had been withdrawn.
The men’s solicitor, Paddy McGurk, said his clients had remained at the scene after the accident and gave a full account to police.
He said they both said it was “simply a tragic accident” and were “quite adamant this was not an intentional act”.
The solicitor added there was “no bad blood” between the defendants and the alleged injured party and the prosecution may have difficulty proving aspects of their case after the withdrawal of statements.
Police had no objection to bail.
District Judge Francis Rafferty released both men on their own bail of £300 to appear in court again on 11 September.
They are banned from having any contact with the alleged injured party or any other prosecution witness.
