BBC’s Jeremy Bowen goes onboard a plane dropping aid

The BBC’s international editor Jeremy Bowen boarded a Jordanian military plane dropping humanitarian aid into Gaza.

He was told by the Jordanians that Israel did not want our crew to film outside the plane’s windows while he was onboard.

But from the window, Bowen said he could see nothing left of the vibrant communities he knew well in northern Gaza.

Israel, which controls the entry of all supplies to Gaza, has denied there is starvation in Gaza and has rejected accusations of being responsible for food shortages.

Palestinians in neighbourhoods across parts of northern Gaza have been ordered by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to evacuate and move south. The IDF has said its military is operating in north Gaza “to eliminate terrorists and terrorist infrastructure”.

Humanitarian groups have repeatedly said airdrops will not get sufficient supplies into Gaza, and have called for more trucks to be allowed in.
