National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir responded to the State Comptroller and Ombudsman’s report, which showed approximately a 500% increase in complaints filed against his ministry in 2024 – most of them regarding the issue of gun permits. The National Security Ministry stated: “Ben Gvir is proud of the report’s results and sees it as a badge of honor. Only someone who works can produce such a report. Minister Ben Gvir expanded the criteria (for issuing gun permits), the legal adviser put sticks in the wheels – and therefore there were delays – which were addressed.”
