Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has appealed the detention order imposed on him this week. Brazil’s Supreme Court placed him under house arrest the day before yesterday, ahead of his trial regarding the attempted coup following the country’s 2022 elections, in which he lost to current President Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro’s lawyers said he did not violate the restrictions imposed on him in a way that would justify detention and requested that the broader public address this issue.
