IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamirr and his deputy, Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, are leading a series of strategic decisions designed to strengthen the IDF, which were made last year during the tenure of previous Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. The decisions in this context include establishing three new divisions; creating a new armored brigade with tanks; integrating ultra-Orthodox into the military; changes in the officer training school; establishing additional units; upgrading the air defense system; strengthening the Navy as a strategic arm; and addressing logistical challenges. All changes are being made so that the IDF can deal with erupting events at the borders.
