‘Israel is not seeking a confrontation with Turkey’

A senior political source said in a briefing to reporters that “Israel is not seeking a confrontation with Turkey and hopes that Ankara is not seeking a confrontation with us.” According to him, “Today, a moderating statement was made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. We do not want a Turkish presence on our border and do not agree to it. There are various ways to address this. The prime minister’s directive was to maintain southwest Syria—from south of Damascus to As-Suwayda and Jabal al-Druze—as a demilitarized zone. There is a Druze militia there, and we do not oppose it.”
