An Israeli businessman who works with Gulf states was questioned under caution on Wednesday as part of the ongoing Qatargate investigation, police said.
The businessman is suspected of contact with a foreign agent. During questioning, he handed over his mobile phone and unlock code to investigators. Police conducted a search of the device on Thursday and plan to summon additional business figures for questioning.
His attorney said the businessman has no connection to the suspicions being investigated.
“This is a law-abiding citizen who has committed no offense and has no involvement in the case,” the attorney said.
