The M6 in Staffordshire is shut after a lorry overturned, with police saying the closure is likely to continue for “most of the morning”.
The crash closed the motorway at about 22:30 BST on Friday and has affected the northbound carriageway between junction 14 for the A34 Stafford North and junction 15 for the A500 to Stoke-on-Trent.
Staffordshire Police said the HGV hit nearside and central barriers before turning over and spilling diesel across the carriageway.
Officers confirmed there were no injuries and said resurfacing and repair work was taking place.
Two lanes are also closed on the southbound side, National Highways said, as recovery of the vehicle continues.
