Regime loyalists descend upon Syria’s Druze-majority Sweida province

Children are being slaughtered. Homes are being bombed. Innocent voices are being silenced. The mountain that has always defended itself is being abandoned at its moment of truth. And as we in Israel know all too well, silence in the face of massacre is not neutrality; it is complicity.
But a covenant is not a one-way street. When the mountain in Syria cries out, Israel cannot bow its head and say, “It’s not our concern.” Israel has a moral obligation to act. It has a strategic responsibility to halt the spread of jihadism near its northeastern border. And it has a historical, blood-bound alliance with its Druze partners.
What is needed now?

Humanitarian assistance: The establishment of a Druze-Israeli-international framework to deliver medical supplies, shelters and communication equipment to the besieged population.
Public recognition: Israeli society must understand that the story of Sweida is also our story. This is not the struggle of “others”; it is the struggle of our allies, our sword-bearers, our partners in destiny.
The IDF must eliminate any forces approaching Sweida province.
We do not remain silent in the face of antisemitism in Europe. We did not stand idly by when the Yazidis were massacred. So why should we stay silent when our Druze brothers are fighting for their lives?
If Israel has a heart, let it show it now. If it has a debt, now is the time to repay it.
