Leaked drafts of the US State Department’s human rights reports indicate that the Trump administration intends to dramatically reduce criticism of foreign countries with complex histories, including Israel. This was reported by the Washington Post. According to the American newspaper, reports on El Salvador, Israel and Russia, copies of which reached the Post, are significantly shorter than those prepared by the Biden administration. The reports, it was noted, show that the Trump administration plans to completely delete or downplay reports of prisoner abuse, corruption and treatment of the LGBT community. The administration responded that the reports focus on central issues and were shortened to be more readable.
